Boxing
Fighting with fist has come naturally to human beings since our existence. The sport was first organized in Ancient Greece however. The ancient Greeks, and later Romans, were the first to hold organized events. Clinching with your opponent was strictly forbidden, and there were, unlike modern styles, no weight classes. Modern day styles were transformed in Europe, and more particularly Great Britain. It is popular around the world and it’s prominence was definite throughout the 20th century.
Muay Thai Boxing
Muay Thai Boxing is a hard martial art from Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. Muay Thai Boxing is referred to as the “Art of Eight Limbs” or the “Science Of Eight Limbs” because it makes use of punches, kicks, elbows and knee strikes, thus using eight “points of contact”, as opposed to “two points” (fists) in Western boxing and “four points” (hands and feet) used in sport-oriented martial arts.
Jiu-Jitsu
Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art, combat sport, and a self defense system that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting. The art of Jiu-Jitsu was derived from the Japanese martial art of Kodokan judo in the early 20th century, which was itself developed from a number of schools (or Ryu) of Japanese jujutsu in the 19th century. Jiu-Jitsu is a form of martial arts teaches that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a bigger, stronger assailant by using leverage and proper technique—most notably by applying joint-locks and chokeholds to defeat the other person.
Krav Maga
Krav Maga is an eclectic hand-to-hand combat system developed in Israel that involves wrestling, grappling and striking techniques, mostly known for its extremely efficient and brutal counter-attacks; this form of martial arts is taught to elite special forces around the world. Krav Maga has a philosophy emphasizing threat neutralisation, simultaneous defensive and offensive maneuvers, and aggression.[5] Krav Maga is used by the IDF Special Forces units and several closely related variations have been developed and adopted by law enforcement and intelligence organizations.
Filipino Kali
Eskrima, Arnis and Kali refer to a class of Filipino martial arts that emphasize weapon-based fighting with sticks, blades and improvised weapons. Although training starts with weapons, empty hand techniques, trapping and limb destruction are also core parts of these arts as the weapon is considered merely an extension of the body. Eskrima and Arnis are the most common among the many names often used in the Philippines today to refer to these arts.
